It had been identified by the organisation that there was a skills gap at ‘middle management’ level in terms of managing (mainly informal stage) capability/conduct issues. 

After reviewing previous cases and discussing the needs of the business, I designed and delivered practical and comprehensive ‘managing performance’ training via small workshops, using coaching and communication skills and providing real case studies to ensure relevance.  The model was trialled on a new business area within the large organisation and after positive feedback, was rolled out across the entire company.

This resulted in a notable change in the behaviour of management, who previously ‘blamed’ HR for them taking any action which, it was explained, undermined their authority.

Once they began to take ownership, they saw they were getting better results and gained confidence in their ability to manage such cases independently.
